Itinerary
- Arrival in Bratislava
- Sightseeing
Bratislava is one of the youngest and smallest capitals in Central Europe. Even so, it has a lot to offer: interesting historical sites, cosy cafés and restaurants, cultural events, concerts. During our city tour, we walk through the narrow streets of the Old Town to see the Gothic St. Martin’s Cathedral, Academia Istropolitana – the first university in the Kingdom of Hungary, St. Michael’s Gate and Tower – the last surviving gate from the city’s medieval fortifications, the Opera House and the old Main Square with the Town Hall and the Primatial Palace.
- Transfer to Moravia region, Czech Republic
- Easy sightseeing on bikes
In the morning, we will cross over into the Czech Republic to visit one of the famous UNESCO sites: the Lednice - Valtice area. This is one of the most noteworthy sites for aficionados of stately homes. We will start our exploration of the Moravia region on two wheels. The beautiful environs of Lednice offer well-maintained and relatively easy cycle routes. Thus, we should not get too exhausted even after a long ride.
The Lednice and Valtice chateaux together with their large English park and Minaret were the former summer residence of the Lichtenstein family. The area is also the best-known wine region in the Czech Republic with rich folklore traditions, beautiful peaceful countryside and many cycle routes of low and intermediate grade. During our 2-day stay in the Lednice area we experience it to the full!

- Sightseeing
- Boat trip
- Wine tasting, traditional dinner and folk music
We will start the day with a tour of the castle including its greenhouse with exotic plants. Then a boat takes us on the Dyje River through the castle park. After the boat trip, we will climb up the Minaret Tower to enjoy the views from there and then walk back to the castle.
We will complete our cultural experience in Southern Moravia with a wine-tasting and a traditional (and rather heavy) dinner accompanied by live cimbalom music.
- Transfer back to Slovakia
- Moderate hiking
We will cross back into Slovakia and visit one of the country’s most lovely mountain regions - the Malá (Lesser) Fatra mountains. We will spend the afternoon hiking in a marvellous gorge known as Jánošíkove diery (Jánošík’s holes). The area offers a variety of hiking opportunities from easy paths in woods to scaling iron ladders and rocks with chains. We can choose which path suits us best.
- Open-air museum
This day we will visit the Open-air Museum of the Kysuce Village, where we will ride into the hills on a historical railway. The Museum of the Kysuce Village presents fascinating examples of the wooden folk architecture of the region (from the 19th- 20th centuries). Moreover, it offers a very rare attraction – a historical narrow-gauge forest railway with a switchback system that helped to overcome large height differences – a system that is unique in Europe.
- Hiking
- Traditional Slovak dinner and fujara (UNESCO)
Once again hiking – this day we will go up to the ridge of the mountains and enjoy amazing views down into the valleys on both sides. The difference in elevation is quite large – up to 900 m. If we decide we would prefer a more gentle hike, we can take a cable car up and down and just walk along the ridge, which is not so demanding. The views are worth making an effort to see!
The mountain regions have always been associated with sheep breeding. Thus, there is no better way to say farewell to the Slovak mountains than a traditional dinner in a shepherd’s cottage while listening to the tones of the fujara, a long pipe with a haunting melancholic sound (inscribed in the UNESCO list of Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity), which is traditionally the favourite instrument of Slovak shepherds.
- Sightseeing or spa treatment
- Optional bike trip
Piešťany is the best- known Slovak spa, famous for its mud and thermal water. For more than a century, it has been one of the leading European spas for the treatment of rheumatism and rehabilitation of the locomotive apparatus and nervous system. Its combination of therapeutic sulphuric mud and thermal mineral water is unique. Writers have been praising Piešťany’s mud since as long ago as the 16th century. At the end of the trip, you may feel like a spot of pampering in a spa. On your last day, you can choose whether to relax with spa procedures or try some of the more active forms of recreation in the town’s beautiful surroundings.
A bicycle trip to "New Zealand" in the hills above Piešťany might be your choice. Surprisingly, you can find real live kangaroos and emus there.
- Last goodbye and departure
Take a leisurly stroll around the spa park or find some time for one or two more spa procedures.
