Bardejov Town
Bardejov town is a well preserved and completely fortified medieval trading town that developed in the Middle Ages along one of the most important trading routes across the Carpathians. It is situated in the North-East of Slovakia, among the hills of the Beskyd Moutains. Being one of the most important points on the tour from Poland to Hungary, the custom office was placed here. The early phases of fortification are dated to the mid 14th century. The Town Hall was built in early 16th century as the first building in Slovakia having the Renaissance stone moulding. To other interesting sites belong the Gothic Humanistic Grammar School, the municipal wine house, merchants houses, the Great Synagogue, incl. ritual baths, a kosher slaughterhouse and a meeting building.
